RAMS Manager (Job No. MG-032)  


Job Description:

Perform reviews of new project “Request for Quote” for Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and System Safety (RAMS) requirements and develop the proposal sections to the stated requirements.


Assist Quality Director in development, implementation and maintenance (revision) of the Kawasaki Reliability program Plans.


Responsible for preparing and / or reviewing the necessary Contract Document submittals for RAMS including Reliability Plans, Reliability predictions, Reliability growth plans and reports, maintainability plans, maintainability demonstration plans and reports, Fire Safety Analysis, Safety Hazard Analysis, Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis.


Support implementation of RAMS requirements with vendors throughout design, prototyping, product assembly, demonstration testing and in-service performance.


Responsible for the coordination of the design activity between KHI, KMM and KRC as it relates to RAMS.


Responsible to assist KHI in pilot car activity (Mock-Up, FAI, Maintainability etc.), which includes travel to KHI.


Assist in all RAMS managerial functions according to Customer Technical Specification requirements for new and established project. Identify the necessary staff by project or cross application and maintain throughout the life of the project to comply with Kawasaki requirements.


Ensures that RAMS documentation is in accordance to engineering drawings, written work procedures, and appropriate verbal/written instructions.  Interfaces with other departments to coordinate inspection schedules to meet the goals of QA department.  Generates plans, reports, schedules and presentations using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, SAP, etc.

Must be able to develop appropriate business strategies aligned to KRC’s Management Policy. Develop and assist in the implementation of a training program to expand on the departments RAMS capabilities to minimize project cost.


Manage position to make best use of employees; select employees and develop their capabilities; plan for succession of key personnel; counsel employees effectively; administer discipline; handle human resource matters in accordance with company policy and procedures.


Establish work standards and schedules and ensure their effective implementation in the department; assign work to employees and train employees in RAMS procedures and methods; review employees’ work for adequacy and take steps to correct inadequate performance; approve employees’ work schedules and time reports


Job Requirements: 

Must have a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Engineering. (Master of Science in Engineering is plus)


Five (5) to ten (10) years’ experience as RAMS Engineer in Rail Cars or other Transportation products (i.e. buses or aircraft) at the prime or vendor level.


Desired experience as RAMS Manager in the Rail Car or Transportation Industry.


Must have knowledge of RAMS software’s like Reliasoft Weibull , Isograph etc.


Must be able to organize, plan, schedule, conduct and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines.


Must have strong communication, presentation, interpersonal and computer skills.


Must be capable of working in both an office and field environment.
